Corporate Profile
Since 1987 Lokken has assisted funders in their efforts to help people attain and maintain sustainable employment and self-sufficiency. We are a leader in labour market development and training. This is achieved through building productive relationships with individuals, communities, program funders, and business associates.
To ensure our program and services are relevant, Lokken engages in significant collection and dissemination of primary local labour market data. Our diverse program delivery experience provides a unique opportunity for learners to benefit from our professional understanding of the Alberta labour market. Our central business office is located in Edmonton, Alberta and provides operational and financial management leadership and support to our program delivery offices. Our mature business infrastructure ensures security of information, financial accuracy and timeliness.
Our current operations include Career and Employment service delivery and our signature Integrated Training programs: Certified Industrial Personnel (CIP), Certified Industrial Personnel – Apprenticeship (CIP-A) and Construction Craft Personnel (CCP). We provide a unique opportunity for learners to benefit from our professional assistance in their transition to increased independence.
Our programs and services recognize that the non-technical Career Path Management skills of communication, human relations and life wellness are as critical to successful employment as technical skills. We appreciate that people learn best when the material is directly relevant to their perceived needs. We therefore blend our program modules into training that is driven by individual service needs determination and employability assessment data. We assist learners to develop positive and meaningful change with a partnership model of delivery that maintains learners’ dignity and respect. Lokken is focused on developing effective training initiatives that lead to real success for our learners and meet our funders targeted labour market needs.
Lokken centers instructional programs on two philosophical constructs of learning. First; people learn more effectively if the presented material is interesting and varied. Our Employment Specialists engage learners in one-to-one interfacing and job-real practice sessions to augment the written material. Second; to achieve industry-real training we duplicate, as much as possible, employers attendance and progress expectations and emphasize job processes as much as job content. This approach creates productive graduates do their jobs effectively and efficiently, and enables us to include employer inputs into the training process. Lokken has achieved long term success with our corporate community partnerships and generates many repeat employment opportunities with local employers. Following this model, we have successfully and quickly established co-operative employer networks and are well respected and well connected in the Alberta Labour Market.
We have insight and first hand experience in providing professional labour market services in Alberta. A key part of each of our programs is recognizing employers as a major stakeholder in the labour market. We have established extensive and beneficial relationships with employers through personal contact, industry events, and forums. We understand the Alberta labour market at a level that allows us to recognize needs, introduce learners into the work force, and act as specialists in helping graduates retain employment.
